As a graduate of Harvard university and voted "Most Likely to Succeed" by her high school school peers in Sherman Oaks, California, it would be surprising if Los Angeles-born Rashida Jones had been unable to make a name for herself. Her talent and intelligence, combined with being the attractive daughter of composer Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton, contributed to her establishment in the industry. She inherited the talents of both her parents, being both an actress and a musician. She is an accomplished singer and pianist, having played classical piano concerts at age five, and guests as a back-up singer for three songs on Maroon 5's album "Songs About Jane." She also had a singing role in a tribute song to Tupac Shakur, who was engaged to her sister, Kidada Jones.
In her Harvard days, Jones acted in plays such as For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, Dancing at Lughnasa, The Odd Couple: The Female Version and H.M.S. Pinafore. She also appeared in Pitching to the Star with her mother Peggy Lipton at the Lee Strasberg Theatre.
