Natalie Portman was discovered by a talent agent at a pizza parlor when she was just 11 years of age. Originally she was told to try modelling, but she decided to pursue a career in acting instead. Throughout her early career she had mainly small, but successful, parts in film. She became a household name when cast as Queen Amidala in the Star Wars prequel movie “The Phantom Menace.” She has taken many major roles since this and was nominated for an Oscar in 2005.
