Daniel Day-Lewis is an English actor who landed his first film role
in 1971 at 14 years of age. After leaving school he decided to apply for
a cabinet making apprenticeship, but he was declined. He decided to
apply for Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and the rest is history. In
the early 1980′s he landed many stage, television and film roles. It
wasn’t long before he became known for being meticulous in his
preparation for a role. In fact, he would often remain in character for
the whole time he was shooting a movie. He was so dedicated that he
broke two ribs while filming in a hunched over position when portraying a
paralyzed character. This meticulous approach won him much respect and
he has been rewarded for his talents with 4 Academy Award nominations
for 2 wins. He is known for being incredibly picky in taking a role and
he has only worked on 4 movies in the first decade of the 2000′s. The
