Honda Chopper Concept by Pete Norris

Generally, I find motorcycle concepts seem to fit into certain categories, either super sleek, very industrial, or really minimalist, so I tried to break the mould a bit with this idea. I tend to just go with my instincts and try not to be overly influenced by any particular style or individual design, but my inspiration for this came from a number of sources, the clean functional lines of medical machinery, 70?s and 80?s marker drawings and design (such as Big Trak), and a bit of manga thrown in.
As a kid my favourite vehicle from any film was the speeder bike from Return of the Jedi, so I guess there maybe some influence from that too. I wanted to design a bike that was a purpose-built chopper, long front suspension, feet forward seating position and a large footprint. The downward facing handlebars and central headlight (positioned under a scowling brow) add some attitude.
Power would come from a biofuel engine, but also 2 small electric motors, one built into each wheel hub.
Honda was chosen as the marque as it has a similar aesthetic to their Asimo robot.I have a real passion (a cliche I know) for vehicle design, and don’t really care how many wheels it’s got, or any at all for that matter, but do try and come up with ideas that are feasible, not based on unknown technology like hover-cars or what have you. I guess what I realy want, is for the world to catch up with science fiction films, and to prove that a vehicle can look “far-out” and “futuristic”, but actually work today, using current tech.I did take a bit of artistic licence with the glows in the exhausts though
