Stanley Kubrick Movie List

Stanley Kubrick was a famous director, writer and producer who began his career working as a photographer for Look Magazine. In 1950 he decided to switch to film and he made two small documentaries. His first film was “Fear and Desire,” which he partly funded by hustling games of chess in Central Park. He began to land more work in Hollywood, but soon became infamous for his unrelenting quest for perfection. He left Hollywood for the United Kingdom after he could not agree to terms with Marlon Brando to direct “One-Eyed Jacks.” In the UK he directed the hit film “2001: A Space Odyssey,” which redefined the science fiction genre. He was nominated for 3 Best Director Oscars, but didn’t ever win an Academy Award in the category. Despite this fact, he is still regarded as one of the best directors of all time. Unfortunately, he did from a heart attack in 1999 and was unable to complete the film “A.I. Artificial Intelligence,” which was taken over by his good friend Stephen Spielberg.
