There are over 400 poisonous species of snakes worldwide. 19 of these live in the United States. But how long do snakes live? This post will answer that question, and then tell you a few facts about snakes.

Snakes usually live between 10-25 years, depending on the species of snakes. Large snakes usually live longer than small snakes. Some species of small snakes only live for 3 or 4 years, while larger snakes (such as Pythons) may live up to 35 or 40 years. Snakes survive longer in the wild than in captivity.
Facts About Snakes

• Snakes are helpful to the environment. Small snakes eat harmful bugs and insects. Large snakes eat rats, mice, gophers and animals that eat crops.
• Snakes only eat when they get hungry. The sometimes go for months without eating!
