Naya Rivera was born on January 12, 1987 and was raised primarily in Valencia, California. Her ethnic background is personally described as, Half Puerto-Rican, a quarter German, and a quarter African-American. Her mother named her Naya after a mermaid on 1970’s American TV Show, Fantasy Island. Naya has an older sister, younger brother, and a younger sister. Naya was introduced to show business at a very young age because of her mother’s personal modeling/acting ambitions. Since then, Naya has modeled for K-Mart, acted fairly regularly on television, and has also been in music videos.
