What Do Zebras Eat

Zebras are animals well known for their beautiful black and white stripes. But where do zebras live? This post will answer that question and also tell you a few interesting facts about zebras.
What do Zebras Eat?
Zebras are herbivores, which means they eat only plants and grasses. They do not eat any meat. Grass is the main part of their diet, but they also like to eat shrubs, herbs, twigs, leaves and bark. So now you know what zebras eat!
Facts About Zebras
  • Baby zebras are known as foals.
  • Male zebras cannot breed until they are 5-6 years old.
  • Some species of zebra have been hunted to extinction. Others are listed as ‘endangered species’ as there are very few of them left in the wild, due to humans hunting them.
  • Some zebras have grown to weigh more than 900lbs (410kg).
  • ‘Zebra Crossings’ are named after the zebras black and white stripes.
  • Each zebra has a slightly different pattern of stripes. This helps zebras identify each other!
  • When it is chased by a predator, zebras zig-zag (run from side to side) to get away! If a predator manages to corner the zebra it will kick or bite the attacker.
  • Scientists believe that zebras can see in color.
